When you connect Copilot to Nomio, you will create or update an agent and give it the ability to search the agreements, data points, documents and clauses in your Nomio repository.

Microsoft have a lot of products called Copilot. This guide shows you how to connect Nomio so it can be used in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Teams, and/or SharePoint.

How to Connect

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat only supports a handful of connectors, so we need to add tools to a new or existing agent in Copilot Studio instead.

1. Ask Nomio to enable External Agents on your account.

2. Ensure you have a license for Copilot Studio:

   • If you’re a Microsoft 365 Administrator, you can go here and search for Copilot Studio to determine whether you have licenses, or whether you need to buy them.
   • You will need a Copilot Studio License for the tenant, and a Copilot Studio User License for at least one user.
   • Once you have them, make sure you assign yourself one of the Copilot Studio User Licenses.

3. In the Agents tab, create a new agent or select an existing one.

4. Click Tools (in the top bar, not the left-hand side), then Add a tool.

   

   You want to select Tools on the top bar, not Tools on the left-hand side!

5. Click Add New MCP.

6. Enter the following information:

   Server Name	Nomio
   Server Description	Retrieve contract data from your Nomio contract repository
   Server URL	https://app.nomio.com/mcp
   Authentication	OAuth 2.0
   Type	Dynamic Discovery

7. You may be asked to log into Nomio to establish the connection.

8. Test your agent (on the right-hand side) to ensure your connection is working:

   List my agreements in Nomio.
   

   If you real data comes back, the connection is working!

9. Click Publish to publish the changes to the agent.

10. If you’ve created a new agent for this, you’ll need to add the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams and/or SharePoint channels before you can use the agent in those products.

Security

When a user connects an LLM from an AI provider like Copilot to Nomio, the LLM requests data through the Nomio MCP server. The same permissions apply as when using Nomio directly i.e. each user can only access the agreements and data they can already see in the Nomio application. If a user can't see something in Nomio, they can't share it with the LLM.

The data supplied by Nomio via the MCP server is then processed by the LLM under the terms you have in place with the AI provider, not under your agreement with Nomio. Therefore, we cannot accept any liability or responsibility for the actions of the AI provider - including the LLM's answers, its availability, or how it handles your data.
